How to fix a laptop with an overheating issue.

Heat is one of the by products of electronics. It is very important to keep heat controlled, a number of the components within your laptop will naturally emit a great amount of hit – the CPU (Central Processing Unit) and in some cases the graphics processing unit. Overheating when not attended to on time could eventually lead to complete failure, especially laptops which have dedicated graphics modules causing no display issues(blank screens).

The first point of call when looking to solve an overheating issue is the ventilation fan which can be found on the base of your laptop near the heat vents.  Over time, dust tends to clog up the vents and the fan which blocks the pathway for heat to leave your laptop. A quick solution to this problem will be to use compressed air to blow off the dust. Compressed air cans can be sourced from online stores at a relatively low cost price.

Sometimes, it can be more effective to disassemble the laptop in order to able to clean the entire ventilation system. So, if the above advice does not fix the issue, seek an expert that can help with the dissembling process. If you happen to have a bit of technical know-how, there a various guides that can be found on YouTube with respect to taking apart your laptop for a clean up.

Another solution that’s available is the use of external ventilation docks. These docks are valuable at relatively low cost and are USB powered. Although from an aesthetics point of view, these can be a nuisance, they really can be useful with the task of ridding heat off your device.
